My Dome in Oliver

Postby domediva23 » Wed Mar 09, 2011 12:57 am

Hi fellow Dome dwellers

I built a Sculptural Monolithic Dome in Oliver, BC and am just in the process of completing the interior.
I blew on the shotcrete for my dome over metal lathe so am parging my interior with cement to 13' and am
planning to use paper crete upstairs for the more horozontal surfaces. I built on a 3' footing wall so even
though the dome is only 38' diameter, the dome rises 22 & a half feet from the floor. If any of you know of
a type of cement that sticks on the really steep curves drop me a line at DomeDiva@yahoo.com
I Love dome living! I really enjoy looking at all the dome projects you have all shared. Thanks Cindy

Cindy welcome & congrats on your dome project. I'm not sure what you're looking for when you say cement that sticks on really steep curves? Are you wanting to shoot it up there like shotcrete or looking for a solution that can be applied by hand? There are several solutions out there. You may want to look at the earthship's. They use a lot of techniques that apply cement as well as cob to their interiors. These are typically hand applied.

Hope this was of assistance. :)

Best of luck in your endeavors & please keep us apprised of your progress. :D
