Has anyone used or considered using metacrylics on their dome?

This wouldn't work in our area as the cure times would make installation nearly impossible. Heat, flying debris (leaves, dirt, etc), and rain are prevalent in the times when the product could be installed. Roofers in our area typically have a new roof installed in less than 2 days. I don't see how this product affords the home owner a better lasting product for the same or less than an existing roofing system.

Just my 2 cents ..... :)

Metacrylics has been installed over multiple dome surfaces all over the world including the US, Germany, and South America. We have two US dome manufacturers that use Metacrylics for their domes for the past 10 years. They have found our product superior in adhesion and durability to other products that were tried in the past.

Currently we have Lick Observatory in San Jose that uses Metacrylics exclusively on their domes for the past 15 years and Santa Clara University used Metacrylics on their new observatory domes built 2 years ago.

Are you talking about this vs. the roof on a standard house OR this vs. other airform coverings on a Monolithic Dome?

Heat makes this stuff cure faster (If I read the application section correctly) but flying debris and rain would be a problem (With most airform covering as well I would think).

Sam

I was speaking of a roof on a typical house. You are correct that blowing debris would stick to the shell covering as well with slower drying coverings such as concrete or stucco.

I recently came across a material that is very interesting. It's call concrete fabric. I would like to see it put on a typical house roof. Also, one of the companies that produces the product sells an inflatable dome solution. Once the dome has been inflated, water is applied to the surface. After 24 hours the product is 80% cured and is very strong and fire proof. Cool Stuff.

Just my 2 cents ..... :D
