CFLs?

The CFLs I've seen at 8 watts put out about 1/10 the lumens you are referring to. Do you have a link?

That would only be 10 lumens per watt, Game Hunter. Are you sure?

Here is a comparison table, but it does not say wherefrom the data came:
http://www.efi.org/factoids/lumens.html

400 [lumens] . . . 9 watt CFL . . . 44 [lumens/watt]

Now I've got it. He meant 5 800 lumen CFLs, not a pack of 5,800 lumen CFLs. His grammar threw me off.

His figures still seem to be off. An 800-lumen CFL should draw about 16 watts (50 lumens/watt), whereas he said, "9 watts". Maybe he meant "19 watts".

What ever is most efficient when I build is what I'll use. I do plan on using sunpipes so I will only need electric light when the sun is not shining.

This thread is going stale and tech has moved on. EcoLEDs still offer some great stuff but the hotshot now is EarthLEDs

Their top of the line EvoLUX pulls 13 watts of power for around 900 lumens of light. It also has a MUCH improved angle for the light beam. My 7-watt bulbs pictured above only have about a 60 degree beam angle but the EvoLUX pulls off a 180 degree beam angle!

I'm moving internationally in about 2 months so I'm not buying any now but once my IO-20 project gears up I will try a bunch of these against incandescents and CFLs and post another photo comparison for you guys. I'm hoping to light my IO-20 rentals exclusively with LEDs and these seem the best choice so I will buy and test them.

Game Hunter

I hope you have deep pockets .... I looked at the price of these .... I would have to take out a loan on my house to put these in all my lamps and such. I'll wait till they drop like the CFL's before I buy in.

Thanks for the info.
