home insurance

Anybody else have trouble getting insurance? I've had some companies jump ship when they found it was a dome. I explained the nature of a monolithic dome and that it was less of a risk to insure than a conventional wood frame structure. They didn't care.

I seem to remember reading that others had similar problems. It seems insurance companies don't want to do anything except take your money.

Anyway, you may try telling them it's a concrete home and see if that makes a difference. They want comps so that can see what to charge.

Hope this helps..... :)

I didn't have trouble getting coverage, but the predecessor to Nationwide insisted on insuring our home for a lot more than it cost to build because they were worried that if it was damaged, it would cost a lot to repair. When they insisted that I have a centrally monitored alarm system, I switched to Allstate. I have been satisfied with them
