Foamer hoses

Postby Anonymous » Tue Jul 08, 2003 5:41 pm

Question to monolithic and all the other foamer pros.

I purchased a used Graco Foam-cat 200 and cleaned it up. The 15' whip and 50' ISO hoses are cloged. Other graco users have had the same happen with ISO crystles wasting this hose. I am looking to replace it with something with a vapor barrier. The RES side is fine but Graco sells these as a set with the heater wires running through it at about 1500.00 for 50'! (Ouch!)

What have you done in the past when you loose a hose? Some users say to flush (I will be using Dynasolv CU-6) and refill with DOP and leave it under pressure to keep the atmosphearic moisture out. (SPELL??) I hope for something better.

Thanks in advance

If it were me, I'd bite the bullet and purchase new hoses. You may or may not be able to remove all of the crystalized Iso, and I would think the likelyhood of stray crystals clogging your gun and causing a restriction and an off ratio foam would be something you wouln't want to gamble on. That can be frustrating, and very expensive.
I'm not sure of compatability, but have you checked with other manufacturers about their hoses ? I use Glas-Craft and I really like their stuff, and I don't believe their hoses are quite that expensive. If you'd like the number of my distributor, or the factory, I would be happy to pass it on. Matt

Urethane foam equipment

Postby DBS » Sat Jul 12, 2003 9:54 am

When you are buying a foam job and you know what the foam costs, it is easy to say "he, the foamer, is making too much. When you start buying new hoses and parts you can see why the foamer has to charge so much. Usually the cost of putting the foam on is equal to the cost of the foam. The hoses are expensive and so are all the other parts. You need to use that machine regularly or it will fill with crystals and set up on the pistons, etc.

I have changed out the iso line and alway regretted it. The cost, the hassle, the mess, and the failures. Never have I been successful in salvaging a plugged line. If you are not going to make this a full time business hook up with a foamer for your foam jobs. The cost of keeping your foam equipment going is too high.

I agree that hoses can definitely be expensive. When I have to place my hoses I always shop around but the last few times I found that a company called Gooding Rubber tends to have the best prices for what I need. Here's a link to their site: hoses. Hope that helps someone.
